A New Venture!
Well, Z-CHEF isn't back...but I am! And with me I bring back Thanksgiving, Bourbon Pecans, Fajita dips and anything else you may have missed. Accept no imitators!

After several months of not cooking and deciding on new career paths I was approached by mysister with an excellent idea. Bored with being a banker and quite a wonderful cook herself (I'm sure you remember she's been featured in the newsletter before) she proposed a new business idea. Let's open something, a place where we can cook together and share our food with everyone. Our most fun times are when we are cooking family meals together. Why not do that for a living and have fun! So be it.

We found a wonderful spot right here in Hull. Formerly Cafe Calabria, a beautiful space with hand carved wood and true European charm is where we chose. We have decided to call the new place Cafe Ona. Named after our maternal grandmother where we got the cooking "bug" to start with.

Unlike Z-CHEF, off premise catering will not be our focus. Although I enjoyed the thrill and challenges of catering so many fantastic events, I think it would be wonderful to slow down a bit and have the opportunity of keeping it local.

Like Z-CHEF's store in Kenberma, we will feature new hot entrees, soups and sandwiches daily to take home for either lunch or dinner. We will also have a cold case with all sorts of salads, entrees and sides that you can take home on a moments notice for a last minute dinner party or family meal.

Still looking for catering? We will still have a Take Home menu that will feature all kinds of menu items that lend themselves to parties.

We will also have seating! So feel free to stick around and enjoy your lunch or dinner. In keeping with the "Cafe" in our name, we will also have espresso, cappucino, pastries and all the daily papers. So sit back and relax with a quality coffee, read the news (or even one of our cookbooks!) or watch FoodTV with us. Also we will have free WiFi internet access, so don't forget your laptop if that's how you relax!

I am so pleased I get to cook for everyone again! I just can't wait to get back at it. I couldn't think of a better cooking partner than my sister (o.k. so we are still in debate over the mac and cheese and rib recipes, but we'll resolve that). Savas is at the ready as well with all of his wonderful desserts, indulgent brownies and sparkling green eyed service!

We plan on opening November first, so keep your fingers crossed for us. Like before, I will be sending a newsletter every week with the following week's menu, travel stories and other tid bits. If for any reason you would like to unsubscribe from the newsletter, you can do so below.

I'd love to hear from you with any suggestions or questions so simply email us at cafeona@hotmail.com .

Front of the House Manager...your everyday contact
Savas (pronounced Savash) is our number one guy on the floor. Our front of the house manager.

Originally from Istanbul, Turkey, Savas has been here in the United States for 6 years. I have
been lucky enough to work with him for the last four. Savas's skill in customer service and cooking has made him a huge asset to the new company. Be sure to look out for Turkish specialties here and there, like his awesome baklava, red lentil soup and Dolma (rice and meat stuffed vegetables....out of this world!)

Thank you Savas!
